About Us

The Julin School for Creative Exploration was opened by artist and educator Talia Estes in April of 2023 with the goal of providing a unique blend of arts and academics in an early learning setting. Our children’s art class series and preschool are targeted toward different artistic goals, ages and levels of academics while still both using an arts-based curriculum.

Our arts-based preschool explores all areas of the creative arts as well as all areas of early development. The school also focuses on each child’s learning experience being tailored to their interests combined with the Creative Curriculum approach.

Our children’s art class series focuses on the fine arts exclusively. Each weekly session includes a short lesson on an important period in art history, the artists and styles of the time, as well as creating our own art pieces based on the lesson each week. The goal of this unique class is to encourage a passion for the arts and give opportunities for budding artists to explore their own creative process.

Our Philosophy

The Julin School of Creative Exploration believes in supporting children’s natural desire to discover our world and understand our emotions through hands-on activities and self expression. Children don’t always have the words to express their thoughts and feelings. Many times we see children processing big emotions and ideas through dramatic play, songs, and drawing. Encouraging children to participate in the artistic process creates opportunities to develop creativity, curiosity and persistence, critical thinking skills, focus, and so much more. At The Julin School we aim to nurture those very important developmental milestones by creating space for children to grow and learn in their own unique ways. This foundation of art and education opens the door for future success in school and life, and encourages the use of art in all academic experiences.

“Art is a place for children to learn to trust their ideas, themselves and to explore what is possible.”

— Educator and author, Maryann Kohl

About the Owner

My name is Talia and I have been working with children in and out of a classroom setting for nearly two decades. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. The natural beauty of our environment inspires me to paint and sketch everything from the waterfront cherry blossoms to the local forests and creeks, which is something I’ve enjoyed doing since I was a child. My background includes studying the fine arts as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Early Education. The Julin School is the culmination of my combined passions for art and education. Other interests of mine which are incorporated into the school include exploring the great outdoors with my family, enjoying a variety of music, and reading.
